Sea Sunday Resources

Sea Sunday is the day which many Christian Churches set aside to remember and pray for seafarers and their families and give thanks for their lives and work. It is officially held on the second Sunday in July, though there is significant flexibility to accommodate other local celebrations.

It some countries, especially the United Kingdom and Commonwealth countries, this day provides a vital link between port ministries and supporting congregations. During Sea Sunday, UK-based charities such as Stella Maris, The Mission to Seafarers and the Sailors’ Society as well as non-denominational groups run awareness campaigns about life at sea.

Churches in an increasing number of countries are celebrating the event, as awareness of Sea Sunday and resources for that day could be of specific help in building up relationships between ports and local churches for the rest of the year.
